Services Offered

Appeals and Grievances

SANQC is a separate organization from NorQuest College. Therefore, our staff can support students in an impartial, and confidential manner. This support includes providing guidance around NorQuest College regulations and procedures such as academic appeals, complaints, grievances, and academic integrity. As part of this support, SANQC will strive to educate and protect students’ rights and responsibilities.

Campus SafeWalk

Campus SafeWalk is a volunteer and employee driven service. This program is dedicated to reducing the risk of physical and/or emotional harm to NorQuest students, employees, and guests during our operating hours within our service area at no cost.

For full details including hours of service, how to book a SafeWalk and how to become a SafeWalker, visit the Campus SafeWalk page.

Food Stability Support

Our emergency food hamper is available, once per term, to students in need. It is a combination of a hamper and gift card. We also have a referral process with other organizations for additional support.

If you find yourself in need, stop by our office (1-114, SCFL) during our open office hours (find those here) and we’ll walk you through the process, which can take up to around 20 minutes.

Health & Dental Plan

Our Health & Dental Plan is here to ensure you have coverage while you study so you never have to choose between school and your health. This plan was approved by student referendum. For more information and to learn more about the fees, visit the Health & Dental page.

Helping Hands Campaign

Each year we support NorQuest students and their children during the holiday season. Through the Helping Hands Campaign, students in need can register to receive gifts for themselves and their children. With fantastic support from staff, faculty as well as other students, gifts are then purchased and donated to those students.

mywellness

mywellness is a resource providing students access to a mental health assessment, financial wellness and general wellness information. Students can also access online counselling through InkblotTherapy for an additional cost.

FAQs

Am I on the SANQC Legal Support Plan?

Eligible students are automatically enrolled in the SANQC Legal Support Plan. If you see these charges on your account, you are eligible and on the plan.

When does my coverage start?

Your coverage will start on the first day of the month in which your opt-out deadline occurs . This opt-out deadline is based on the first day your class begins; you have 14 days from the official start date of your program to opt-out of the SANQC Legal Support Plan. This may be different from your first day of classes if you registered after the course began. Students will have 12 months of coverage from when it begins.

So, if your opt-out deadline is in September, your coverage would begin on September 1st and continue to August 31st of the following year. If your opt-out deadline is in October, your coverage would begin on October 1st and end on September 30th of the following year.

What is the Student Legal Support Plan?

mylegalplan is an online service proving students with access to a 24/7 legal hotline, legal consultations (up to $1,500 per consultation), and an online library with customizable legal documents. We suggest students register for the service, just in case you ever find yourself in the circumstances that requires legal support!

I’m a funded student, are these fees covered by my funding?

Typically these fees are not covered through funding. It is very important for you to pay for these fees yourself or to opt-out of these charges before your deadline.

When is the opt-out window for mylegalplan?

The deadline to complete your opt-out is 14 days from the start date of your classes during the term in which the fee was applied to your account. If you have been assessed the mylegalplan fee during the current term and the deadline has not passed, you can fill out the opt-out form here.

If you have any questions about mylegalplan or how to opt-out, contact us at students.association@norquest.ca or 780.644.6250
