While the U-Pass program has been suspended for the Fall term due to most post-secondary students taking classes online, we understand that some students will still rely on public transit and may need to come to campus at times.
We’re happy to announce that in cooperation with the other institutions that are a part of the U-Pass program, ETS and Edmonton City Council, 2 proposals were passed to help students in Edmonton access affordable public transit.
Please keep in mind that these are temporary measures to help ease the financial strain on students during the COVID-19 pandemic.
We would like to thank all those that were a part of these discussions for their partnership and support to help create a solution that will benefit students.

Low Income Ride Transit Program
Eligible students will need to apply through the Leisure Access Program. Students who are 18+ and earn less than $29,069 may qualify for a $34/month pass. Students who are 18+ and earn between $29,070-$33,033 may qualify for a $48.50/month pass. For comparison, a U-Pass costs approximately $45/month.
Note: International students are also eligible to apply for the Ride Transit Program.
Note: Students who are considered a dependent (i.e. their parents/guardians claim them on their taxes as a dependent) would have to include their parents/guardians income on their application, so they may not qualify for the Ride Transit Program.

I’m a student, but I don’t take ETS. I take transit in a surrounding municipality. What are my options?
Please check with the transit agency that provides you with service. They may have discounted options that are available to you.
