BE INFORMED AND BE INVOLVED BECAUSE YOU BELONG!

As we all know, NorQuest College caters to a diverse community of students. Despite coming from different countries, we all have the same goal. Every student deserves to feel a sense of belongingness by being heard and acknowledged.

As a member of this community, it will be a great honor and a privilege to be part of SANQC’s Students’ Council. I attain to be someone who will listen to you and at the same time be your loud and clear voice.

EVERYONE IS INVOLVED, AND EVERYONE BELONGS BECAUSE YOU’VE GOT A FRIEND IN ME.

Krizza Shamira De Jesus (she/her), Practical Nurse

I am Krizza and I am in the Practical Nurse program. My platform aims to reassure students that the stress that they are experiencing is valid and that prioritizing self-care is necessary. I would like to advocate for student life initiatives that foster a sense of community on campus.

Positivity board – A board that can be placed on each floor where notes can be pinned to inspire and encourage other people.

Study buddy – This potential project aims to get volunteers to be mentors and help new students by sharing their experiences and tips on how to manage their studies.

Free drinks during exam week – Exams are extremely stressful and we can offer students water, coffee, or juice to brighten up their day.

Suggestion box – To be placed in high-traffic areas to advocate for students’ suggestions.

Get together event – This potential project aims to let the students meet new people. This allows for new relationships and small communities to form.

Annual dance party – Students need some time to de-stress and have fun.

Norquest got talent – This aims to streamline the talent of the students and boost their confidence.

Mental health awareness campaign – Promotes the mental health and well-being resources on our campus.

Business, Environment & Technology Candidates

The following candidates are running for one seat in the Faculty of Business, Environment & Technology.

Vote for the candidate you want to elect. You may vote for one (1) candidate.

Law Andrews (he/him/wiya), Business Administration

My name is Lawrence Andrews, Law for short. I am a 2-spirit Cree-Métis from Treaty 8 territory. It has been a few years since I have been in an educational setting, and this is my first term at Norquest College.

When I first saw the opportunity to represent FBET on Student Council, I thought it would be a great opportunity to grow, learn, and promote equality for all here at Norquest. Honestly, I don’t know if I would be best suited for this opportunity. Making decisions that may impact such a diverse student population, is not a decision to be taken lightly. But some decisions are not that difficult, helping others, encouraging growth, and promoting equal opportunities, are some things that come naturally for me. These are the things that I hope to bring with me to Student Council, along with my own unique perspective.

In the short while that I’ve been here, I already know that I have the support and help of the many new friends that I’ve made, the only way I know how to give back is to show my own support and help, and to hopefully watch everyone I’ve met so far achieve their educational goals.

To close, I want to thank my friends for the nominations that brought me this far, and I also wish to take time to mention that The Core has some very excellent beaded lanyards available to purchase.

Muskan Manchanda, Business Administration

I don’t just want to lead the student council so I can impose my fresh views on the students. Of course, I want to contribute, but I also want to provide a secure environment for my classmates to share their ideas for how to improve our school and society.

I think the purpose of the student council is to offer all students a platform to express their opinions on various issues. Being a student leader will place me in a fantastic position to listen to them and implement their ideas.

Nilesh Banger, Machine Learning

As a student leader with a strong passion for the well-being and success of our college community. I possess exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, which allow me to effectively collaborate with diverse groups of people and ensure that everyone’s voices are heard.

I promise to listen to your concerns, work tirelessly to address your needs, and bring fresh ideas and innovative solutions to the table – that’s why I believe that I am the best candidate to represent you and advocate for your interests, and I humbly ask for your vote

Prashant Virdi, Business Administration

Hello Everyone!

My name is Prashant Virdi and I am thrilled to announce my candidacy for the position of Student Council Representative from the Faculty of Business, Environment & Technology. I strongly believe that I have the passion, drive, and dedication required to effectively represent our student community and make our college an even better place to learn and grow.

Throughout my time in this college, I have had the opportunity to witness firsthand the amazing things that we as students can achieve when we work together. However, I also recognize that there are many challenges and obstacles that we face on a daily basis, and I am committed to addressing them head-on as your representative.

I promise to work tirelessly to:

Foster a safe and inclusive college environment where all students feel welcomed and supported.

Advocate for the needs and interests of our student community, and make sure that our voices are heard and respected.

Work collaboratively with our school administration, faculty, and staff to implement positive changes that will benefit our entire student community.

I understand that serving as your student council representative is a big responsibility, and I take it very seriously. I promise to work tirelessly to represent your interests and concerns to the best of my ability. Together, we can make our college an even better place to learn and grow.

Thank you for your consideration, and I humbly ask for your vote in this election.

Raghav Sharma, Business Administration

Being an international student, observing the pain and struggle of my fellow classmates I decided to run for student council to bring improvement in the whole system.

A good leader is someone who is comfortable handling suggestions and adapting to changing situations.

Being a student Leader in my Native country gave me ample experience in handling every situation.
As a student leader, I am going to develop innumerable leadership skills including conflict resolution, cultural intelligence, and professional advancement.

Last but certainly not least we will have fun! This is a year in which we will be able to make bonds and friendships that will last the rest of our life.

Sourav Soni, Business Administration

Being a student representative is a very big platform for me to showcase all my fellows and folks about my skills and knowledge. I have been very interested in making new friends here from different cultures and background and it gave me the opportunity to increase my extraversion.
