Art Rejano (He/Him), Academic Upgrading

Hello,

My name is Art Rejano and I am student at NorQuest College under the program of Academic Upgrading. I am currently upgrading my English 30-1 marks as I plan to enroll in either Arts & Sciences, Social Work, or Justice Studies. I believe I am a great fit to become a Representative for the Students’ Council for the Faculty of Skills & Foundational Learning because of my sheer will of creating a welcoming environment for all students from various backgrounds.

My intention is to indulge myself in an environment where I serve my community and make education not only accessible, but encouraged for all walks of life. As a Filipino-Canadian born and raised in Edmonton, I came across many individuals who find themselves in a difficult transitioning period adjusting to the fast-paced lifestyle Canadians are accustomed to. Oftentimes, they become discouraged or intimidated from how complex the education system compared to from what they are used to. My goal is to create an environment where individuals can access their education confidently and direct them a proper path they desire.

I, myself a Academic Upgrading student knows the importance of Skills and Foundational Learning. I am still discovering my passion and exploring careers that best fit me. With proper guidance and help, together we can explore ourselves with ease.

Kind regards,

Art Rejano
