SANQC is student led. The Students’ Council members that speak on behalf of students are elected by you – the students at NorQuest. All of our elections are held online so that all eligible students can vote.

How to Vote

  • All students that are eligible to vote will receive an email to their NorQuest student email account with voting instructions and their unique access key.
  • Students will follow the directions in the email to cast their vote.

My name is Lawrence Andrews, Law for short. I am a 2-spirit Cree-Métis from Treaty 8 territory.

This is my third term at Norquest College. When I first saw the opportunity to represent FBET through Student Council, I thought it would be a great opportunity to grow, learn, and promote equality for all here at Norquest.

Personally, I believe we can achieve all our individual goals with Norquest. I would like to see more community involvement and more exciting events for all Norquest Students & Alumni. In the short while that I’ve been here, I already know that I have the support and help from SANQC, Miyo-pimâtisiwin Centre (the Indigenous Student Center), and all my new friends, the only way I know how to give back is to show my own support and help, and to hopefully watch everyone I’ve met so far achieve their educational goals.

I want to thank my friends for the nominations that brought me this far, and I also wish to take time to mention that The Core has some very excellent beaded lanyards available to purchase, which in turn supports the Miyo-Pimâtisiwin Centre.

Currently, I am a second-year student in the Energy Management program, and I bring a wealth of experience and a strong commitment to advocating for your interests.

During my time here at our institution, I have had the privilege of representing the struggles and concerns of our fellow students on local radio channels. Additionally, I’ve had the opportunity to take our collective voice directly to the provincial government, specifically, the Government of Alberta. This experience has given me valuable insights into the challenges our student community faces, and I am dedicated to championing those concerns at every level of decision-making.

Furthermore, I have been an active member and president of our Norquest Bhangra Club , and we’ve taken our vibrant culture to the wider community. Our Bhangra team has performed at prestigious venues like Expo Edmonton , and our dedication to promoting our heritage and talent has led us to be VIP guests at the South Asian Music Awards , and where we had a privilege to take guidance from respected political leaders of Alberta such as our mayor Amarjeet Singh Sohi.
