About The Inquiring Mind training
This 4 hour certificate program (issued by Mental Health Commission of Canada) is designed especially for post-secondary students, and facilitated by the Centre for Growth and Harmony
The Stats and Examples that are used in our training are drawn from the campus community at NorQuest (e.g. our National College Health Assessment survey results).
Course Structure:
Training is delivered in a workshop format.
It covers three main components:
Stigma reduction
Resiliency skills
The Mental Health Continuum Model. The Continuum Model changes how we think and talk about mental health by categorizing signs and indicators of good to poor mental health under a four-colour continuum: green (healthy), yellow (reacting), orange (injured), and red (ill).
The overall goals of the training are to:
reduce stigma and negative attitudes towards those struggling with poor mental health
help participants maintain mental health and improve resilience and coping strategies
teach participants about the Mental Health Continuum Model
